Amatörradio är speciellt omnämnt på två platser i detta nya viktiga EU Direktiv om Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC. Den 20 juli träder de nya föreskrifterna i kraft. Det är ett resultat av EU Direktivet 89/336/EEC återkallas och ersätts av det nya EU Direktivet 2004/108/EC.
Utdrag från dessa viktiga punkter:
(2) Member States are responsible for ensuring that radiocommunications, including radio broadcast reception and the amateur radio service operating in accordance with International Telecommunication Union (ITU) radio regulations, electrical supply networks and telecommunications networks, as well as equipment connected thereto, are protected against electromagnetic disturbance.
och
2. This Directive shall not apply to:
...
(c) radio equipment used by radio amateurs within the meaning
of the Radio Regulations adopted in the framework of the Constitution
and Convention of the ITU (2), unless the equipment is available
commercially. Kits of components to be assembled by radio amateurs and
commercial equipment modified by and for the use of radio amateurs are
not regarded as commercially available equipment.
Den andra punkten är mycket viktig då den talar om att byggsatser
och modifieringar för Radioamatörer är specifikt undantagna från den
dyra och tidskrävande processn för att uppfylla Direktiven.
Dessa nya föreskrifter gäller utrustning som släpps ut på marknaden efter den 20 juli 2007. Utrustning som redan finns på marknaden före detta datum kan fortsätta att produceras i enlighet med det gamla EMC Direktivet 89/336/EEC för ytterligare två år.
